Around this time of year, when winter is at its peak and routines can feel monotonous, I always look forward to New York Fashion Week for a surge of inspiration and new ways to have fun with my style and beauty routine. From 70’s glam at Mara Hoffman to the ethereal beauty of a deep burgundy lip at Rodarte, the perfect mix of East and West Coast style at Jenni Kayne to DKNY top knots, chunky statement knits to printed socks with loafers, the fun is choosing what inspires you and translating it into your everyday style. Personally, I have been wearing my long vintage dresses with tights and chunky knits all winter long and can’t wait to start peeling off the layers and letting them shine as we transition into Spring. I also can’t enough of the ease and versatility of a jumpsuit (done to perfection by Rosie Assoulin) and white denim on the weekends with a simple choker as seen by Assembly New York.
I know how easy it is to get into the habit of wearing the same things every week, using the same makeup and wanting to shake things up – I have been there! I’m here to tell you that a little energy goes a long way. From experimenting with a new lip color or a sweep of bronzer to the excitement of a great vintage find, these acts of love not only make you feel good, but that energy is felt by everyone around you.
Below are my top runway, beauty and street style picks from NYFW Fall 2016 and ways to wear these looks now. All of the selections are ones you can feel proud and excited to support. Sustainable and transparent companies who take pride in what they create, a feeling and mindset that directly translates to you as you wear and use these incredible creations. A stylish dress made from recycled fabrics, jumpsuits sourced from local materials, organic slip dresses and only natural and high-quality ingredients in the beauty products that are good for your skin and the planet. I am proud to support these companies and introduce you to what will surely be new favorites!
