Happy Saturday Dreamers! Things were way too quiet for me on the blog this week with most of the action happening behind the scenes so I thought it would be fun to do a catch-up post and share updates on my life + blogging.
As a total type-a personality it is not exactly in my nature to “go with the flow”. One of the many lessons that I have learned building my blog and business is that sometimes there is no choice, and that is a beautiful thing. I have grown leaps and bounds in my mindset of constantly striving for perfection, but also realized that it is a part of my personality that I really love. It pushes me to never settle and always be the best I can be. Underneath every situation is a lesson waiting to be learned.
You may or may not know this but I work full-time while growing Jewels of a Dreamer. I have a lot of big plans for this special place I call home and all of these ideas take time, something I currently have limited amounts of. Right now, it is crucial I use the time I do have wisely and make the most of every moment I get. Just as a disclaimer, I am not complaining whatsoever. I feel beyond thankful to have a job I love while I grow my business. Most days are stressful in terms of keeping up with both but I honestly thrive on the stress and have learned how to breathe through any tension and really listen to my intuition. That being said, some weeks are just busier than others and this was one of those weeks. I am sharing this because transparency is extremely important to me and if things seems a bit quiet on my end, this is why. My goal is that when these weeks come up to add in more personal “life update” posts to stay connected.
Thursday was a really exciting day for me because I had my first outfit photo shoot! Fashion and personal style are a huge part of my life and a passion that fuels me every day. Every since I can remember I have been cutting up magazines and following blogs and it is thrilling to be doing something I have dreamed of for so long that also pushes my comfort zone. I have to tell you, I had a BLAST. Expressing the inner light inside of me through the clothes I wear (and seeing how others do the same) has allowed me to experience a creativity that has been healing in many parts of my life. I seriously can’t wait to share the pictures and continue to explore personal style as it is one of my most cherished jewels.
In regards to my overall well-being, my top priorities are and will always remain my mental, emotional, spiritual and physical health. Nothing comes before taking care of these things which for me currently means kundalini yoga and meditation every morning as well as the readings assigned to me by my coach, Taylor Eyewalker (the first month with her has already shifted my perspective drastically and she has been a huge blessing in my life). Some sort of movement every day, right now this includes pilates classes, a DVD (pilates & Ballet Beautiful), foam rolling and stretching. How long depends on how my body is feeling and how much time I have. Preparing nourishing meals, tonics and plenty of water to fuel me throughout the day and keep my energy levels up. Another one that I am working on and is very important: SLEEP. I get up at 6am to put time into my blog before work and ideally I would like to be in bed reading by 10am but with work, dinners and other obligations I am trying to improve on that because right now it is not happening and without a solid 7-8 hours I am in a fog for most of the day. Last (but certainly not least) making time for dates with Dan, phone calls with family and hanging out with friends/connecting with new faces is crucial to my happiness. These relationships mean everything to me and I feel extremely thankful to have such a loving, understanding and encouraging support system.
So there is a few updates! With my birthday next week (Earth Day baby!) and endless possibilities I couldn’t be happier right now. Despite the slow-down of content things are getting busier and ramping up more than ever. To say I am excited about what is to come is an understatement. I have SO many ideas and content in the works, I know eventually I will get to the place where I am happily posting 5x a week but for now I will continue to produce content as quickly as I can with the standards I hold all of my work to. Every moment I dedicate to growing Jewels of a Dreamer continues to fuel me and I thank you for being with me on this journey. Feel free to connect with me on social media (Instagram, Facebook, Twitter) or email if you have any thoughts or just want to say hi, I’m always here.
DREAM ON xoxo
